What is Reverse Osmosis Purification?

Osmosis is a VITAL PURE process , when two liquids of different concentrations are separated by a semi permeable membrane, the fluid has a tendency to move from lower to higher solute concentration to maintain chemical potential equilibrium.

Formally reverse osmosis is the process of orcing a solvent (water) from a region of higher solute concentration through a semipermeable membrane to a region of lower solute concentration by applying a pressure in excess of the osmotic pressure.

The membrane used for reverse osmosis have a dense layer in polymer matrix where most separation occurs. The membrane is designed to allow only water passage through this dense layer, while preventing the passage of solute (such as salt, ions etc.) Pore size of membrane used in VITAL PURE RO system is 0.0001 micron. This process involve an exertion of high pressure on the high concentration side of the membrane. Simultaneously an osmotic pressure is built by a high pressure pump.

As a result the micro particles salts and other impurities stay in concentrated part of water which is filtered out by membrane via rejection. At output end of membrane all you get is pure water.

The diagram shows the comparison between pore size VITAL PURE RO system's membrane and the size of different kinds of impurities present in water.

This comparison ensure the fact that the "membrane allows only pure water to pass through it."

The whole phenomena provides 90 to 95% of TDS (total dissolved solids) reduction in water. TDS contain bad composition of water like salt Iron and Calcium magnesium ions and other micro particles. But TDS also contain some useful Minerals and ions (the remaining 10% of TDS) which are good for health. The water produced by VITAL PURE RO is finely 99.99% pure safe, tasty and ready to drink
